Liturgy Committee

Mission Statement: To enhance the worship at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church through the proper implementation of liturgical principles. The Liturgy Committee plans the liturgies. It is the responsibility of this committee to coordinate everything that is involved with the Mass. All requests for special liturgies need to be presented to this committee for consideration.
The goal of the Liturgy Committee is to enhance the Liturgy and help coordinate parish worship. It concerns itself with liturgical functions that serve as the primary demonstrative expressions of faith and worship via the sacraments, as well as programs explicitly involving spiritual growth and development.

This commission is concerned with discerning, training, developing, scheduling and the renewal of laity in their participation in liturgical celebrations in any capacity whatsoever especially the following: Music, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Altar servers, Greeters, Ushers, Worship planning and church flowers and decorations for ordinary and special celebrations.

Inorder to minster in this way, the commission members must form themselves into a praying, learning faith community, educating and renewing themselves through prayer, study, and attendance at appropriate learning opportunities.

The members must be knowledgeable of diocesan directives and resources, using each other as needed, in most effective and economical manner.

This commission is to determine, with other parish members, the liturgical and sacramental needs of the parish community, including those of shut-ins, caregivers, the ill, nursing home residents and all other in unusual situations or needing assistance.

It is to plan and assist in the coordination of all liturgical, para-liturgical or special celebrations and events; it must also work cooperatively with other commissions and parish organizations.
