My adventure started after I graduated from Clearwater High School in 1973. After that, I completed a two-year degree from St John Vianney Junior College with AA degree. After six months I joined the Navy as a Fire-Controlmen Missile and completed ‘A’ schools and C Schools. My first ship was a Coontz Class Destroyer; USS Macdonough DDG 39 out of Charleston SC. This was start of another adventure; I married Anne when I was station in Charleston, SC. From there, Anne and I shifted to Morrisville, NJ completing more schooling under the Aegis Program then instructing. Our family started to grow; our first child was born. Now we moved to Bath, Maine working on the first Aegis ship from the shipyard, Bath Iron Works, USS Thomas S. Gates, CG 51. I was employed with SAIC for 20 years, managing various parts of the same contract from Sept 1999 to 2019. Served as a Senior Project Manager and the last 60 months as a Program Manager in which I have managed Systems Engineering and Training Analysis contract for which SAIC provided services to the Center for Surface Combat System (CSCS) in support of the following areas: Manpower and Personnel, Information Assurance (IA)/Information Technology (IT) support, Infrastructure Support, Functional Integration Management (FIM) Systems Engineering Support, Training Management Support, and International Programs (IP) support. Prior to working with SAIC, I served 23 years in the US Navy, retiring in Nov 1999. Various duty assignments I was a Certified Master Training Specialist/Senior Advanced Electronics Instructor. I instructed senior enlisted and officers in intermediate and advanced electronics, including electron theory, component operation, circuitry troubleshooting and repair. I developed curriculum and conducted performance and written tests. I performed, supervised, and evaluated tactical programs with the support equipment for Combat Information Center and the Non-AEGIS Weapon System during ship’s construction, sea trials missile qualification and certification. I hold a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems from Stayer University. At the age of 58, I was recognized as a true volunteer. In my 4th year as an assistant coach to the King George High School Foxes Varsity Swim Team I did not receive any monetary compensation for my work; my satisfaction truly comes from helping those swimmers who are not the star athletes on the team. I especially enjoyed working with the kids who really benefit from small group work outs or individual attention. I kepted the kids pumped up and even the smallest accomplishment earns the swimmer a “job well done” pat on the back. Five days a week from 3:30-5:00 and at Friday evening swim meets I could be found at the King George YMCA closely working with various groups of swimmers between the ages of 14 and 18. I focus on technics, team building as well in building individual abilities in oneself, confidence and drive, and watching the results over the years. Upon retirement Paul became active in setting up their retirement home in Mooresville, NC and became active in his local Parish St Phillips (Sacristan, LEM, Usher, forward with Christ Program and Finance Committee), Knights of Columbus Honorary Member and supporting Council 7152 and Grand Knight, and Lakewalk Neighborhood Outreach, in support of Feed NC.
